Michaels began his performing career with a basement band called Laser and, then, in 1979, joined forces with longtime childhood friend Rockett to form a band called the Spectres. In 1980, Michaels and Rockett teamed up with Smith and Dall to form the band Paris and the group started playing the club circuit, performing mostly rock cover songs in local bars. The group formed a strong local following but in order to further their career the band made the decision to move to Los Angeles on March 6, 1983 and also changed the name of the group from Paris to Poison.
Since their debut in 1986, they have released seven studio albums, four live albums, five compilation albums, and have issued 28 singles to radio.

In 2012 VH1 ranked them at #1 on their list of the "Top 5 Hair Bands of the '80s
(from Wiki)

Who would have thought this band would have had so much success, singing to the ladies!!

Poison was a hot band to me, "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" is my favorite Poison song of all time...I remember when Bret Michaels was in the hospital + it was all over the news...Anyhow, Poison was one of my first bands that was somewhat heavy...

I won a contest on WRIF in Detroit to see the premier of "Son In Law" with Pauly Shore...limo ride to the theater with CC Deville.

When the limo pulled up I got in and he was blotto wasted. He had a cheap woman under each arm to prop him p when he walked. I think he drank the limo dry...anything and everything. I wasn't too impressed but he was on vacation too!

Anyways...I always thought they were a gimmick band like Twisted Sister. I did always like this song...

A few weeks back, I sat through their first 4 albums. All still sound pretty decent today. Poison takes a lot of flack for not being worth a shit or for being the posterboys for "hair metal", but they definitely had some solid stuff. They also did have some really poppish tunes as well, but that doesn't make them bad.

It's amazing that a band like Poison had such a massive carrier and still sells out arenas and well, lets not kid ourselves here, all this off only 3 really good albums. The first 3 albums this band recorded had major success. That is pretty impressive to continue to tour as big as hey do on really those 3 albums as major pillars.

That and the fact Brett pillaged a pretty big following with his reality TV show.
