I was never super big into The Agonist beyond their album
Prisoners, which was pretty decent, if I recall correctly. That was my introduction to the lovely Alissa White-Gluz, who famously left for Arch Enemy after they finished that album. I never really gave their next album,
Eye of Providence, a chance, and I stopped paying attention to them after that. I've always felt that they were talented, but they just weren't for me since I'm not big into metalcore, even more complex metalcore like they play.
That being said, this song isn't bad, and I could see it growing on me with repeated listens. Vicky Psarakis, their current lead singer who replaced Alissa, looks totally adorable here, and I feel like her vocals have definitely improved since I last heard them.
Their other single from their upcoming album
Orphans, In Vertigo, isn't bad either. Again, it's just so complex - there's a lot going on here. I really have to be in the mood for this type of stuff to enjoy listening to it.
