THE AGONIST - Burn It All Down (Official Video)

I was never super big into The Agonist beyond their album Prisoners, which was pretty decent, if I recall correctly. That was my introduction to the lovely Alissa White-Gluz, who famously left for Arch Enemy after they finished that album. I never really gave their next album, Eye of Providence, a chance, and I stopped paying attention to them after that. I've always felt that they were talented, but they just weren't for me since I'm not big into metalcore, even more complex metalcore like they play.
That being said, this song isn't bad, and I could see it growing on me with repeated listens. Vicky Psarakis, their current lead singer who replaced Alissa, looks totally adorable here, and I feel like her vocals have definitely improved since I last heard them.
Their other single from their upcoming album Orphans, In Vertigo, isn't bad either. Again, it's just so complex - there's a lot going on here. I really have to be in the mood for this type of stuff to enjoy listening to it.

She is adorable. When I was watching her in the videos, all I could think of is how much she favors Britney Spears....then a sick image of Britney growling popped into my head.
So, yeah, upon further review, I'm really impressed with these two singles. I swear, there's no way that this is the same band I gave up on a few years ago. I need to go back and listen to some of their older stuff to refresh my memory.

That is the biggest downfall of a music collector.........we get so much that we forget. I also believe our musical ears change, too. At one time, I wouldn't even listen to 10 seconds of any screaming or growling. Now I will give it a listen, and I enjoy some growling, especially if it really fits the music. I still am not super into growling, especially if I cant understand what the heck they are saying. My favorite growlers are those "beauty and the beast" vocalists, ala Tristania or Leave's Eyes and Epica.

Yep, my musical tastes have absolutely changed and grown over time. I used to only listen to standard mainstream hard rock. I was so afraid of metal. Then my dad passed away in 2011 and everything changed.
My tastes within metal changed too. Among other things, I was afraid of growling at first, and then I only wanted to hear growling. I was afraid of tr00 kvlt black metal, and then that was all I wanted to hear. I was indifferent to female vocalists, and then I preferred female vocalists. I found power metal boring and symphonic metal cheesy, and then I only wanted to listen to symphonic and power metal. I was a metal snob, and now I'm the polar opposite.
These days, I'll give almost anything a chance if it appears to have some effort, creativity, and heart put into it. These two songs have all of the above, in spades. I'm impressed.
