Two of the greatest remakes of all time. No doubt about it!

In my opinion, this may be the single greatest example of someone taking a great song, covering it and making it there own. Stevie Ray Vaughan's rendition of Little Wing is fucking magical! Jimi did it with Dylan's Watchtower. (another great example).

Speaking of Jimi, F the people in his 'camp' that keep getting his music pulled off of youtube. I will never understand these artists (or their asshole families) that keep getting their music pulled in some grand idea that they are protecting their music from 'piracy' or some other shit, while not realizing that they are flat-out alienating potential new fans who WILL purchase music if they are allowed to preview it first. I can't tell you how many albums I have bought over the years BECAUSE I could listen to it first (whether it be youtube or some other similar site).

So, I'm not going to bother to post the Jimi versions that are out there with shitty audio or ones that have the vocals turned down or off completely (ie: karaoke versions) and I'll just post the magic that we got with SRV:

I really think the Beatles slayed this. John on point and Paul almost carrying off an entire trio of back singers by himself.

Another cover I really like is by Axiom Funk off the Funkronomicon album, If 6 was 9, originally a Hendrix song. Axiom Funk featured Bootsy Collins and Buckethead.
I like the funky groove.

I'm not going to post the vids of the original or the remake since neither fall into any category that we have here on site, but Whitney Houston's remake of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You has to be one of the best pop remakes of all time.
